Training Director, Sandy Case has had a life-long passion for dogs. She started working in traditional obedience training in 1978, teaching in 1979, and has been three times the training director for a large local obedience club, training director for an agility club, volunteer trainer at a local animal shelter as well as over 30 years of teaching at all levels, and competing with her Australian Shepherds, an Irish Water Spaniel and a Belgian Malinois. Sandy has also worked as a national behavior consultant for a 501C-3 rescue organization and is a published author on dog training, behavior and obedience, as a regular columnist for the Aussie Times, the official magazine of the Australian Shepherd Club of America, Inc. She has been interviewed on the subject of dog behavior for a number of news organizations, and invited to talk to civic groups and organizations. Sandy has a Masters Degree in Education and is certified through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers. She is an ASCA Obedience judge (all levels) and has judged from Wyoming to Wisconsin
Additionally, Sandy has put 21 CD, 15 CDX, 4 UD, 1 ASCA Obedience Trial Championship, multiple agility and herding titles, a freestyle title, conformation Championship and rally titles through Excellent on her personal dogs. She has qualified for Dog World Awards, including all scores above 195 for a title, and all obedience titles from Novice through Utility in a single year (on the dog who also won High in Trial at the first AKC sanctioned Australian Shepherd national specialty). She has qualified for and attended four Gaines/Pupperoni Championships with two different dogs and been nationally ranked in both ASCA and AKC obedience at several levels in a breed which traditionally has a good number of highly competitive dogs.
About a dozen years ago, Sandy was introduced to clicker training, and has applied those methods, and compatible other learning programs exclusively for about 10 years. In the last 7 years, Sandy has offered classes and private lessons/consultations under the name Positively Canine.
Sandy has continued her education as a trainer by attending presentations, seminars and workshops by such well-known dog experts/trainers as Suzanne Clothier, Sue Ailsby, Linda Tellington-Jones, Kay Laurence, Karen Pryor, Leslie Nelson, Michele Pouliot, Emma Parsons, Ken Ramirez, Steve and Jen White, Bob Bailey, Morten Egtvedt and Cecille Koeste, Kathy Cascade, Chris Zink, Debbie Spence, Brenda Aloff and Turid Rugaas, and of course listening to the greatest experts, the dogs themselves.
